Approximately 60 years old, the nut of the Coco de Mer, a species of rare palm tree which is endemic only to the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, is the largest nut and is oddly shaped . The shape and size is that of a woman’s buttocks, not surprisingly sailors would think these were Mermaids floating in the sea

This nut was viewed by people in other parts of the world as a rare and fascinating object with mythological and even magical properties
