Launching Axe from MV Karen 1969

Launching Axe from MV Karen 1969.
There are several different ways to launch a ship and several different symbolic ways in which to do so. In the Far East ship launchings incorporate axes which are thought to bring good luck and scare away evil. The shipbuilders traditionally order the crafting of a special axe for each new vessel; and after the launching ceremony, they present the axe to the vessel’s owner as a commemorative gift.
The axe is used to cut the rope which tethers the ship to the place where she was built.
This is a great one in that’s complete with champagne ribbon, commemorative docket, and even typed notes for the dignitary to launch Her with.
A very evocative piece at a very reasonable price.
