HMS Vigo Gun Tompion – 1946

Original Royal Navy gun tompion.

HMS Vigo was a Royal Navy Battle Class Destroyer.

She was built by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co.

HMS Vigo was launched in September 1945, commissioned in 1946.

In the 1950’s she became a Gunnery training ship based at Portsmouth and was a patrol ship in Icelandic Waters during the Cod War.

Following decommissioning in 1959, she was finally scrapped in 1964 at Faslane.
