HMS Queen Wardroom Badge – 1902

HMS Queen a London class of pre-dreadnought battleships.

Unofficial badge of HMS Queen. Unofficial as the badge pre dates the standardisation of all Royal Navy badges that came into effect in 1919 . After 1919 the badges and tampion’s were standardised and all the same pattern, prior to this a ship could have a variety of different badges at any one time.

During WW1 in HMS Queen participated in the Landing at Cape Helles and supported ANZAC forces ashore.

In late May 1915, HMS Queen was withdrawn to reinforce the Italian fleet at the southern end of the Adriatic Sea after Italy joined the war on the side of the Allies. In early 1917, she was converted into a depot ship to support the Otranto Barrage and was disarmed over the course of the year.
