HMS Kittiwake Ships Bell – 1937

HMS Kittiwake (L30/K30) was a Kingfisher-class patrol vessel that served the Royal Navy during World War II.
Her duties included Coastal patrols, protecting British waters and monitoring shipping activity and anti-submarine warfare training: Developing tactics and skills to counter the growing threat of German U-boats. She did suffer an early tragedy when, on September 20th, 1939, just weeks into the war, HMS Kittiwake struck a British mine in the English Channel, resulting in the loss of five crew members.
After extensive repairs that lasted until early 1941, HMS Kittiwake returned to service escorting convoys and doing anti-submarine patrols:, searching for and engaging German U-boats operating near British shores.
