‘Victory’

A C-Class light cruiser that had an extensive career. Launched in 1918 Her first assignment was with the China Station, patrolling British interests in the Far East and then had roles in the Mediterranean until WW2 broke out.

She played a crucial role in the Norwegian Campaign, a failed Allied attempt to prevent the German occupation of Norway where She was quite badly damaged.

Following repairs, HMS Cairo was assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet where She was involved in Operation Harpoon in 1942. HMS Cairo led the escort for a vital six-ship convoy delivering supplies to besieged Malta.
