General Steam Navigation Co Bell – Plover

General cargo ship launched in 1936.

Built by Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Ltd, Dundee

In 1960 Plover was sold to the Great Yarmouth Shipping Company without a change of name, although this was a P&O subsidiary company as well and remained in Group service.

In 1961 she sank following a collision with Hollands Duin on a voyage from Yarmouth to Rotterdam and raised later that year.

Sold to NV Holland to be broken up at Hendrik Ido Ambacht.
